Beautification Commission (3-year term)

Appointed by the City Council, Commission By-Laws, Article III, Section 1.

Purpose:  To assists with beautifying the City of Port Huron and creating and fostering citizen pride by developing programs, projects and annual events.

Construction Board of Appeals (3-year term)

Appointed by the City Council, Sec. 2-511, Division 5, Chapter 2, City Code.

Purpose:  To determine the suitability of alternate materials and types of construction and to provide for reasonable interpretations of the provisions of building codes.  Members:  one each of master electrician, mechanical contractor and plumber and two licensed tradesmen (such as an architect, engineer, general contractor).

Meets on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in the Public Meeting Room of the Municipal Office Center. The deadline for submitting items for Commission consideration is two weeks in advance of the meeting. For further information, contact the Planning Department at 810-984-9735.

Local Development Finance Authority (4-year term)

Quality of Life Commission (3-year term)

Appointed by the City Manager, subject to approval of the City Council, per resolution adopted September 14, 2009.

Purpose:  This advisory commission will review and study factors which can impact the quality of life in Port Huron and to make recommendations to the City Council concerning ways to eliminate blighted properties and to improve the housing quality.
